# Comments

> Pins, threads, mentions, and notifications on the canvas, Preview, and share links.

Leave notes on a graphic the same way you would in Figma: pin a thread on the canvas, reply in place, and follow up from the comments panel. One comment system covers the **editor**, **Preview**, and a **published** `/p/[slug]` link.

Comments are not chart annotations. Annotations (callouts, reference lines) are still coming.

## Leave a comment

1. Press **C**, or click the comment tool in the canvas / Preview toolbar.
2. Click the frame, block, or chart element you want to talk about.
3. Type, then press **⌘ ↵** (or the send button) to post.

The comments panel opens on the right when you arm the tool. Press **V** to go back to select.

On a **Comment** or **Edit** share link, guests type a name the first time they comment. No Florence account is required.

## Pins, hover, and threads

Pins sit on the canvas at the click point. Unread roots use the violet fill. Nearby threads cluster; click a cluster to zoom and split them.

Hover a single-thread pin for a short card: who wrote it, a two-line snippet, and a reply count if there are replies. Click the pin or card to open the thread.

In an open thread you can:

* Reply (⌘ ↵)
* React (smile on hover; one reaction per person)
* Resolve or reopen
* Copy a link to the thread
* Mark unread
* Edit your own comment (signed-in authors only)
* Delete the thread if you wrote it, or if you are a project editor or owner

Editors and owners can delete someone else’s comment. They cannot edit it.

## Mentions

Type **@** or click **Mention** in the composer. The picker lists **project members** only. Mentions highlight in the body and can trigger email (see below).

## The comments panel

Right sidebar → **Comments**. The header is `N comments` and, when relevant, `(Y unread)`.

* **Filter** — newest, oldest, or unread first, plus show resolved.
* **⋯** — hide or show pins (**⇧ C**), and (when signed in) notification prefs for this project.

Click a card to open that thread on the canvas.

## Who sees what

| Share access | Who can comment                                                |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Private**  | Project members in the editor                                  |
| **View**     | Signed-in members                                              |
| **Comment**  | Anyone with the link (guests enter a name)                     |
| **Edit**     | Anyone with the link, plus signed-in **Edit** into the project |

Editor threads stay **internal** (members). Preview and public threads are **shared** — they show on the published page for people who can comment there.

Embeds stay chrome-free. There are no comment pins or a comments pane inside an embed.

## Copy a comment link

**Copy link** on a thread:

* Editor: `/projects/:id?comment=`
* Preview and public: `/p/:id?comment=`

Opening the URL selects that thread.

## Email

Signed-in members can get email for new comments, replies, and @mentions. Guests never receive email.

Set the project pref from the comments panel **⋯** menu:

* **Everything**
* **Just mentions and replies** (default for non-owners)
* **Nothing**

Project owners default to **Everything** until they change it. Each email includes a link to the thread, user settings, and unsubscribe.
