Finish the graphic on the canvas, then either download a file or put it on the web. Those are different paths.

Export a frame

Select the frame (not only the chart). The Properties panel includes Export.
  • PNG — raster. Choose 1×, 2×, or 3×.
  • SVG — vector, with fonts embedded. Best when the next stop is another design tool or a news CMS that accepts SVG.
  • PDF — a PDF wrapper of the frame (rasterized).
Export uses what you see on the canvas, including the active breakpoint and canvas light/dark mode. Switch breakpoint or mode first if you need a mobile or dark asset.

Preview

The Preview view (play icon next to Canvas and Data) is the full-frame preview: step through frames, switch breakpoint, and toggle light/dark without editor chrome in the way. Use it before you publish or send a PNG. Controls are live here. A dropdown, radio, checkbox, or slider filters the charts and tables it targets, and a tooltip or pop-up follows the mark. Exporting that preview keeps the filter. Exporting from the editor canvas hides the control and uses the full dataset. A public link and an embed have the same filters and overlays, and no download.

Publish and embed

Share and Publish are separate. Publish writes the presentation. The first time, the button is Publish. After that it is Update, with the presentation address and a copy button, when it was published, and which frames changed. Revert puts one frame back to the published version. Unpublish sits beside Update and asks you to confirm. The presentation and embed stop opening until the next publish. The project link and members stay as they are. Share is the people and link panel. Copy link expands on hover. ⌘⌥L copies the project link, or a direct link to the selected frame.
  • Project link — opens the editor for someone who can edit, or the presentation for view and comment. Private means a stranger cannot open that link.
  • Presentation link — /p/[slug]. It is public once the project is published, including when the project link is private. Copy stays off until then.
  • View — guests see the presentation and cannot comment.
  • Comment — anyone with the project link can comment. No Florence account.
  • Edit — a signed-in person can edit frames, blocks, and datasets. They can copy links. They cannot change who has access or publish.
  • Team — on by default. Workspace members can edit even when the project link is private. An explicit invite wins over the team switch.
  • Guest password — for anyone who is not invited and not covered by the team switch. The same password covers the presentation, the embed, and the project link. This browser is remembered for 7 days. You can set it before the first publish.
  • Frames — the checked frames are the default presentation and embed. Each frame can still copy its own presentation link and embed.
Pins, replies, mentions, and the comments panel work the same on Preview and the public page as they do in the editor. See Comments. The public page uses the same floating chrome as Preview:
  • Left — Florence wordmark (click for the file menu), project name, and expand for frame thumbnails. Thumbnails follow the frames included in the share link.
  • Right — the avatar stack (who is here now), Share (copy the link or embed snippet only), and expand for the comments panel. Pins sit on the frames. Click the stack for people who viewed the file recently. Guests appear after the page loads, with a generic icon until they type a name to comment.
  • View in the file menu — zoom in/out, zoom to 100%, zoom to fit. Shortcuts: + / -, ⌘1, ⌘0.
  • Preferences — app chrome light, dark, or auto.
On first open, a public link matches canvas light/dark to the app theme. In the editor, a canvas mode you already saved for that project wins; otherwise the canvas follows the app theme. Embeds stay chrome-free: no avatars, no cursors, no comments. The embed can target specific frames. Unpublish from the Publish panel.

Working together

Open the same project in two browsers and edits show up without a reload. Frames, blocks, datasets, and project styles stay in sync. Pan, zoom, and undo stay on your machine. The public link shows who is viewing it, but it does not live-update the published graphic. On the canvas you see other people’s cursors and selection outlines in their color. Cursors hide after a few seconds of stillness, and you never see your own. They do not appear in Dataset view, Preview, or on a public link. One person edits a text block at a time. If someone else has it open, a double-click says they are editing. The same applies to a dataset cell. If two people change the same field, the later save wins. Pick a presence color in Settings (violet, teal, amber, rose, indigo, or zinc). It is used on your avatar, comments, and cursor. Guests do not pick a color. Password verification happens on the server. If a published link asks for a password, that is expected.

If export and canvas disagree, try 1× PNG first and send Feedback with a screenshot — matching export to canvas is an ongoing quality pass.
